Teamwork Leads to BECi Claiming Statewide Safety Trophy

BECi recently received recognition for having the most outstanding safety program among the state’s electric cooperatives. Co-op employees have worked over 752,000 man-hours without a loss-time accident. The Statewide Safety Trophy was presented by the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives (ALEC) at the organization’s annual meeting held in Baton Rouge in July. It was the sixth time in 10 years BECi has received the coveted award.

BECi Announces Scholarship Winners

For 26 years, Beauregard Electric Cooperative Inc. (BECi), has randomly selected students within its service area to receive a scholarship to attend a Louisiana University. These funds were made possible through legislative changes in 1993 to allow unclaimed funding to stay in local communities assisting families to further their education.

Since its inception, BECi has awarded 163 students more than $215,750 in scholarships. The results of the scholarship drawing were announced Saturday, March 23, during BECi’s annual meeting at the cooperative’s headquarters in DeRidder.

BECi Announces Winners of Essay Contest, Students Win a Trip to Washington D.C.

Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi), announces the top 10 winners of the 2019 Beauregard Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Essay Contest. Students entered the contest by writing an essay describing how life would be without electricity. BECi received over 80 entries and awarded four of the top 10 winners a trip to Washington, D.C. The winners of the contest who will participate in the Youth Tour are as follows:

 

Sarah Jackson – DeRidder High School

Mia Mayeaux – South Beauregard High School

BECi Offers Fifteen $1,500 Scholarships to Students 

 This year, Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi), is pleased to offer 15 one-year scholarships, valued at $1,500 each, to students who reside on BECi service lines. The scholarship is open to first-time college students and current college students who meet requirements. The winners will be selected at the BECi Annual Meeting held Saturday, March 23, 2019, by a random drawing. The student does not have to be present to win.

Holliday, Williams named BECi Employees of the Year

Pam Holliday and Frank Williams were recently selected among their professional peers as BECi’s Employees of the Year for 2018. Holliday was named Inside Employee of the Year while Williams was named Outside Employee of the Year.

Holliday began working at BECi in 1985 as a customer service representative before moving up to office supervisor 10 years later. Holliday is currently the Central Office Manager in DeRidder, a position she has held for the past 15 years. Holliday has 33 years of service with BECi.
